About our NCC Army Wing

The D.A.V NCC company Junior Wing under the control of 1(Tamil Nadu) Battalion NCC , Madras – A Group was started in 1978. The objective of National Cadet Corps is to develop character, comradeship, and capacity for the leadership among youth in India. The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline.“ In a nutshell, the values of NCC are as follows: “Sense of patriotic commitment, respect for diversities, commitment to learn and adhere to norms and values, understanding the value of a just and impartial exercise of authority, ability to participate in community development, healthy lifestyle, being sensitive to the needs of the poor."

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces. DAV Boys Senior Secondary School, Chennai gives eminence to NCC. Our School Management, Secretary, Director, Principal & ANO motivates the students to be part of NCC from 8th grade onwards.

We have regular weekly training in NCC. The Cadets are given basic military training in small arms and drill.

Regular visits by NCC Officers motivate the students to participate in NCC camps being held at various places across the country.

Our Accomplishments

The Eighth International Day of Yoga was observed in our school as ' Yogathon under the guidance of 1 (TN) BN NCC on 21 June 2022 It commenced with 160 NCC Cadets from 5 different schools and 2 colleges performing Yogasanas from 6.00 a.m. to 8.00 a.m.

DAV Gopalapuram NCC cadets participated in THAL SAINIK CAMP(TSC) selection held at Dhanalakshmi Engineering College from 25th April to 4th May 2022.

The above mentioned 5 cadets along with the Associate NCC Officer (ANO) participated and gained more insights about NCC at THAL SAINIK CAMP(TSC).

The camp was a 10 day camp held at VIT college, Vellore. Camp was held between May 9th and May 18th 2022. Training in Rifle shooting was given as part of this NCC training.

Third & fourth NCC camp were held at SRM college, Kattankulathur from May 3rd week to June 2nd week.

RDC - REPUBLIC DAY CAMP is the most glorious camp for a cadet in NCC. In-fact, representing at NATIONAL level itself give you enough power & confidence. The cadets are selected through a tough selection process. The cadets attending the camp participate in several activities like cultural, National Integration Awareness Programme and Institutional Training Competitions. The camp is visited by many dignitaries including the Vice President of India, Raksha Mantri, Raksha Rajya Mantri, Chief Minister of Delhi and the Chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force. The Aim of the Republic Day Camp is to enhance the self-confidence of cadets, deepen their value systems and provide an exposure to the rich culture and traditions of our nation. The camp portrays a reflection of “Mini India”. The selection for RDC starts as early as August or sometimes even earlier which takes place in various stages.

First round of RDC selection: 18 cadets attended the selection at Dr. AMBEDKAR LAW COLLEGE conducted by 1TN BATTERY NCC.

Second round of RDC selection: 11 cadets attended the selection at CHENNAI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KUNDRATHUR conducted by 1(TN)R&N

Third round of CATC CUM DTE TSC(1)AND RDC (1) camp : 5 cadets attended the selection at CHENNAI INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, KUNDRATHUR conducted by 1(TN)R&N.

Fourth round of CATC CUM DTE TSC(2)AND RDC (2) : 3 cadets attended the camp at DHANALAKSHMI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING conducted by 1(TN)SIG COY NCC and 1(TN)GIRLD BN NCC

Fifth round and sixth round of CATC CUM DTE TSC(3)AND RDC (3) – 3 cadets attended the camp at DHANALAKSHMI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING conducted by 1(TN)SIG COY NCC and 1(TN)GIRLD BN NCC

Seventh round CATC CUM DTE TSC (4)AND RDC (4)-- 3 cadets attended the camp at DHANALAKSHMI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING conducted by1(TN) MED UNIT NCC

Eight round CATC CUM GP RDC(B&G) LAUNCH CAMP – 3 cadets attended the camp at ST PAUL' HSS conducted by 1(TN) BN NCC (MADRAS 'A' GP).

After the above-mentioned camps, the selected cadets attended IGC RDC intergroup competition in NTA IDAYAPATTI under the AGIES OF NCC GP. After this final selection, the successful cadets will attend the next level of RDC.

SGT ADITHYA RAMANATHAN and CDT M. ADHITYA have honoured the chief guests of the Annual Sports Athletic Meet and Independence Day , DAV Group Of Schools,by Piloting the chief guests.

1st Reverse Run in South India to create awareness on plastic pollution was held in Elliot’s Beach, Besant Nagar, Chennai on 02/07/2022 in which 10 NCC cadets participated.
From our school, 10 NCC cadets participated in 1st Reverse Run for 300m to celebrate Plastic Bag Free Day on 2nd July 2022 Saturday at Elliot's Beach, Besant Nagar. Cadets received Medal, participation certificate and cloth Bag for the Awareness Reverse Run.

SGT ADITHYA RAMANATHAN completed the TSC LAUNCH CAMP which was held at Sai Ram Engineering College, West Tambaram- Chennai He attended state level firing competition and secured 3rd place in Snap Shooting in TSC IGC Inter Group Competition.
